Serving communities from the Chesapeake to the Potomac, Walter Kirkland is exploring a vision rooted in service, integrity, and real results for families across Prince George’s, Calvert, Charles, St. Mary’s, and Anne Arundel counties.

For decades, Walter has mentored youth, supported seniors, partnered with nonprofits, and worked alongside community leaders to strengthen neighborhoods. He believes Maryland’s Fifth District deserves leadership that listens, shows up, and delivers practical solutions.

Walter believes public safety starts with prevention, partnership, and accountability. His vision emphasizes community-based violence prevention, youth mentorship, mental-health crisis response, and stronger trust between residents, law enforcement, churches, and local organizations.

Healthcare should be affordable, accessible, and compassionate. The MD-5 AI Opportunity Initiative focuses on responsible, people-first uses of AI to strengthen workforce development, healthcare access, small businesses, and public services.
